Why is it that writers (I'm assuming it's not just me, anyhow) can create a full cast of fictional characters, build setting, craft plot & dialogue to complete an entire manuscript, yet we struggle to summarize our stories into a one-page query & two-page synopsis? Then, when asked to tell a bit about ourselves, we freeze, procrastinate, & moan, baffled about how to best present our own stories?
In recently setting up a Twitter account, I even delayed creating my bio there, not feeling I could come up with something succinctly witty enough to make me sound interesting & thus "follow worthy." I admit, I went as far as to Google: how-to set up a good Twitter bio, hoping someone more creative designed an on-line generator. Pathetic, I know. When that proved futile, I browsed random user bios & jotted down key descriptor words commonly used in popular profiles. Once I got going, I added & tweaked several to create a fun list. In hopes of helping some fellow pathetic souls, I'll share my list of prompts here. Don't over-think them, just fill in what comes to mind for each. Put a few of your favorite lines together, & change them up when you get bored. Any suggestions?
